This collection consists of research notes, some of which are written in Cyrillic, and a few pieces of correspondence. One of the letters is a hand-written fragment of Bunyan's acceptance of a fellowship to the Page school. The documents in the collection are a mixture of manuscripts and typescripts.

James Bunyan was a fellow at Walter Hines Page School of International Relations from 1937-1938. He authored three monographs on Soviet and Russian history; The Bolshevik Revolution, 1917-1918; Intervention, Civil War and Communism in Russia, April-December,1918; and The Origin of Forced Labor in the Soviet State, 1917-1921.
